Love Next Door

Synopsis

A young man is searching for a next apartment and finds a new love in the process.

Impressions

This was a project for a digital arts class at University of California, Irvine. I played a very grumpy woman who was having a terrible morning. I was able to play a sarcastic, annoyed character. It was refreshing to be able to play a character with very little emotional arc. I had been playing a lot of very emotional characters with very tragic backstories at that time and it was nice to play an easy role with one emotional objective. This scene was filmed over the course of a few hours and it was very challenging to do because we were filming next to a busy road. We had to pause a lot for passing cars and buses to reduce ambient noise. It was good practice in film technique learning to do things such as hitting my mark and maintaining consistency between shots. It also helped me get to know some of the film students at University of California, Irvine which opened up later film opportunities.
